Ben Tre – discovering by motorbike
You need to be fairly confident in yourscooter drivingskills for the small islands as roads are not often wider than your scooter itself. People here is not in too much of a hurry. Your mission will be finding the roads that won’t end in the middle of nowhere. There are a lot of detours and sometimes you need to take ferry to pass the river, but that just adds to the entertainment factor of your day.
One place you should discover by motorbike isBa Tri,a small town 20 km South East of Ben Tre, you will go on a little side roads along rice fields, coconut palms and villages. There are a lot of ducking palm trees hanging over the road. It will make you a day of adventure. Ba tri itself isn’t themost exciting place, but it has a little market where you can buy some oven fresh baguettes and fruits to snack on, and don’t forget to drink freshest coconut.
Where to eat in Ben Tre?One of the reasons why you should travel to Ben Tre is that it is a big enough town without being much of a tourist destinations. That will make for some great foodie experiences. And there definitely is good restaurant in Ben Tre but it’s not always easy to find. So you should check with google for reference.
Grilled Bananas by the Lake,following through the town, you will come across something looks like a popular street food stall where something is being barbecued and sit down without knowing what you are getting. These are smashed grilled bananas, served with a thick coconut milk and green onion dip. It sounds weird?! But sometimes weird is good! So you should give it a try!
There is a good restaurant for dinner named:Vuon An Mai Vang.They offer some steamed fish, crispy fried spring rolls, stir fried veggies and a coconut salad. The coconut salad is amazing. I’m sure that this is your first time you try it, exotic, sweet, fresh – scrumptious. It will be served with some fresh prawns and prawn crackers to scoop it up. It’s just around 20 dollars for 2 people, but it worths the price.
